📌 How We Handle Your Data

Jiraiya is designed with your privacy as the top priority.
Your writing is stored on your device. iCloud sync and cloud audio export that you choose and approve involve the transfers described below.

Our data handling principles:

All books, Field Notes, and writing data are stored on your device
When iCloud sync is enabled, data syncs only within your personal iCloud account
The developer never has access to your personal data
The developer does not sell your writing data. Transfers to the sync and audio services you choose are described below.

📚 Writing Data

Your work belongs to you.
Your books and Field Notes are stored on your device and in your own iCloud account. If you approve audio export with ElevenLabs, the narration text is also sent to that service.

How Data Storage Works

All writing data is securely stored on your device using SwiftData
iCloud sync is performed only through CloudKit within Apple's infrastructure
Image data is automatically compressed and optimized for efficient storage
You can export your data in Markdown format at any time using the export feature
Deleting the app will also delete the data stored on your device

Data handling for audio features (Mac, version 3.1)

Built-in voices and VOICEPEAK
Read-aloud and M4B generation using built-in Mac voices run locally. The VOICEPEAK integration passes narration text to a helper on the same Mac. Jiraiya does not send your manuscript to a cloud voice service for these operations.

When you choose ElevenLabs
You connect with your own API key to retrieve voices. Retrieving voices does not send your manuscript. To export, review the narration text and approve its transmission and the use of your service allowance or fees. The text is then sent directly from your Mac to ElevenLabs for synthesis with the voice you selected. Images and tables are excluded from the narration text.

Fees, API key, and submitted data
ElevenLabs fees are not included in Jiraiya Pro. Your API key is stored in this Mac’s Keychain and can be replaced or deleted in Settings. The saved key is not displayed again. Your selected voice is also saved on this Mac, but manuscript transmission requires approval for each export. Writing does not automatically send your manuscript to ElevenLabs. Storage and use after transmission follow ElevenLabs terms and your account settings; Jiraiya does not guarantee zero retention. Canceling may still incur fees for processing already sent to the service.

💡 Analytics & Improvements

In the future, we may collect the following information to improve app quality:

Anonymized crash reports
Basic usage statistics (feature usage frequency, etc.)

Important: If we begin collecting such information, we will always obtain your consent first through an opt-in process. Currently, we do not collect any such information.

Your license is tied to your Apple ID and can be used on all devices signed in with the same Apple ID
The app may be used for both commercial and personal purposes
Reverse engineering, modification, and redistribution are prohibited

All content you create with Jiraiya (books, Field Notes, etc.) belongs to you.
Copyright for works created using Jiraiya belongs to you, the creator
The developer does not claim any rights to your work
You are free to publish and distribute your exported works

🛡️ Disclaimer

The developer shall not be held liable for any damages arising from the use of this app, including but not limited to data loss, work interruption, or other damages.

However:
As an independent developer, I strive to ensure your satisfaction. If you encounter any issues, I will do my best to provide support. Please feel free to contact me.

Data Backup:
To prevent loss of important writing data, we recommend enabling iCloud sync and regularly using the export feature to create backups.

Continuous feature improvements and bug fixes are provided
Best efforts are made to support new iOS/macOS versions
Support is provided as promptly as possible, but responses may be delayed due to individual development
Feature requests are welcome, but implementation is not guaranteed

⚖️ Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes relating to this app shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Japan.
